Benefits of coconut

Coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm. It has a hard husk with tasty coconut pulp and milk. The pulp consists of 30% fat, 15% sugar and 3% protein. It contains various vitamins and minerals. Coconut is also considered as an excellent isotonic drink. Among others, coconut:

  • reduces premature skin aging;
  • improves the condition of the skin and hair;
  • removes free radicals from the body;
  • exhibits antibacterial and antifungal properties;
  • moisturises the skin;
  • supports collagen and elastic synthesis;
  • protects from UV rays;
  • regenerates the epidermis.

Coconut fat, i.e. coconut oil, contains more than 90% saturated fat. It is burned, hence it doesn’t accumulate in fat cells. For this reason, coconut is a very valuable source of energy and is included in  the diets of athletes.

Coconut for cooking & care

Due to its nourishing and nurturing properties, coconut has been used in both the kitchen and in cosmetics. It is used in the form of:

  • coconut milk – used for frying, moisturising the skin and hair regeneration;
  • coconut water – quenches thirst and hydrates the body and skin;
  • coconut shreds – used mainly in cooking;
  • coconut pulp – provides the body with vitamins, minerals, fibre and energy;
  • coconut milk – used for cooking and drinks.

Coconut is used in cosmetics because of its antioxidant effect. This tropical fruit is used in face and skin masks, body lotions and ointments for skin inflammations.
