Cosmetics with snail slime. Do you dare to try?
The cosmetology uses a lot of ingredients of natural origin, including substances derived from plants or animals. One of them is slug snail, a very popular ingredient of many well-known cosmetics. How does it work and what does it contain?
The secret of snail skin care
The slime has regenerating and protective properties. What is more, it contains cryptosine, which is produced when the snail’s body is damaged. This is that gives the cream its valuable ingredients, namely:
- proteins – similar to those found in the human skin. Thanks to proteins, the skin is smooth, nourished and brightened;
- allantoin – regenerates tissues, reduces irritations, accelerates the process of skin repair;
- vitamins A, C, E;
- AHAs acids – with exfoliating and rebuilding effect;
- collagen and elastin – firm the skin;
- natural antibiotics – prevent inflammation.
How do cosmetics with snail slime work?
Cosmetics with snail slime moisturise, regenerate and fight free radicals. Thus, they prevent premature skin aging. Such cosmetics also have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, for this reason they can be used by people with dry, mature, sensitive and allergic skin. Snail slime can bring satisfactory results in the case of scars, discolourations, and stretch marks.
Snail slime in cosmetics
This ingredient is used in the production of moisturising, anti-wrinkle and antioxidant cosmetics. That is why it is often included in face creams, eye creams, masks and serums. It is often combined with vitamin E or shea butter.
How is snail slime extracted?
The mucus is obtained from healthy snails. The whole process takes a few days and starts with the cleansing of molluscs – from one we obtain a teaspoon of slime. What’s important – no animals get hurt in the process. Then the snail rests for about two weeks, during this time mucus is processed for cosmetic use.
